Laser Crystal

Conceptual Design

The laser quartz crystal is a powerful tool for healing purposes. This particular specimen below measures 12-1/2" (31.8cm) long, with a weight of 3lbs (1.4kg) and comes from Brazil. It has a face of ancient appearance, of Aztec style carved half way up the body. There are several small protruding crystals coming out of the main body. The top part of the crystal is clear, as can be seen from the photos. The base has been cut flat so that it can stand, although it would not be safe to do so as the base is too small for the purpose.

This laser crystal is such a rare specimen that I decided to make a purpose-built base for it, with a sheet copper  surface. The copper is studded with semiprecious stones including turquoise, lapis lazuli, amethyst, citrine, emerald, and others. The laser crystal stands within a purpose-built hole in the centre of the stand. Two small electric bulbs set into the bottom of the aperture of the stand produce a flashing pulse and illuminate the lower part of the crystal.

For protection during transport I made a purpose-built canvas covered padded wooden box, with handle, central strap and two clip catches. See below right. The box has metal corner protectors, and also has compartments for holding smaller crystals. The lining is in green, wine red and blue velvet.
