I was introduced to Sir William and Lady Walton in 1979 by
Bolivar,
the well known artist of Ischia, whose portraits come later in this gallery.

Lady Walton, who died on Sunday aged 83, devoted the whole of her
35-year marriage to the composer Sir William Walton to being the
perfect wife for a creative artist; at La Mortella, their home on
the island of Ischia in the Bay of Naples, she created one of the
great gardens of the world:
