Note: In the frenetic process of photographing the above painting before it was sold I was completely oblivious of shadows cast on the canvas by branches of a tree behind me. Also, the photograph has lost much of the fine detail and colour subtlety of the painting. The colour film was processed by the only film processing laboratory on Ischia, the diabolical results of which were my films, with what seemed to have been chemicals from the nineteenth century; the proprietor tried to extract every morsel of developing potential from them. Perhaps he was reptilian!
