Still life of oranges and rose petals

Picture title: Still life of oranges and rose petals. 1979.
Oil on canvas. Size: 15-3/4" x 19-5/8" (40cm x 50cm)
Available.

Note: A light flare has been picked up on the left side of the painting.

The fresh group of oranges were given to me in November 1979 by the elder family who lived down below, who were the parents of the owner Antonio Macre, of whom I painted a portrait in exchange for the use of the villa over the winter period.
The gift of the fresh oranges at about 7.30pm was such a surprise and the colours were so beautiful, that I set to and decided to paint a still life of them there and then, and completed the work at about midnight, with only a few details to finish off the following morning.
