from a pastel portrait. Here it has been given a posterized
effect
in gouache creating a pop art painting. I am showing it here to
illustrate how
another style can change a conventional
representational piece of artwork into
something quite different and
very appealing.

The Eye of the Storm

The painting has bright shocking colour combinations depicting my
vision of how devastating
hurricanes are, bringing chaos and destruction
in their wake. Techniques used are mainly
acrylic inks on pre soaked
textured watercolour paper applying pouring colour, drying,
then
several more soakings to layer different textures each time, with a
final applications
of pastel. I am also having prints made from this
painting.

Poppies

I have a passion for painting poppies. For this one I chose to use
mixed media using a
semi abstract style. The painting was done from
memory & digital shots taken as the
light was beginning to fade,
hence the dark sky, which contrasts so well against
the red poppies
giving the work more vibrancy.

Cows Resting

Painted from a photograph of a group of contented cows blissfully
munching away.
I did some rearranging of the beasts and also cropped
the image considerably;
adding some wild flowers in the foreground for
enhancement.

The painting is a sketch for a larger work to be painted at a later
date. It makes
a charming small painting in it's own right; so that is why it is
included here.
I do many of these small bijou works in preparation for something
bigger.

Begonias in Vase

This small pot of begonias was a gift from a friend. I thought
it was
so pretty and painted it before the flowers faded.
